The popular crypto exchange Binance has announced that it received an information security accreditation from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for complying with its set standards.

“Binance, the leading global blockchain ecosystem, today announced it has officially received ISO/IEC 27001 accreditation–a universally recognized information security management system issued by International Security of Organization (ISO).”-posted the company in its blog today.

According to Binance, the company went through an audit to meet the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001 standard. The audit was conducted by DNV GL, an international accredited record-keeper and classification society, and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, a national accreditation entity that handles firm evaluations based on several standards.

The company claimed that this accreditation made Binance the “first company in the cryptocurrency industry to be verified by DNV and UKAS,” and “one of the first global leading cryptoasset platforms to achieve the international information security standards.”

Binance was audited based on 114 factors from 14 categories, such as “security policy, asset management, operation security, and information systems acquisition, development and maintenance.”

Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao said in the company’s blog post:

“Security has always been the utmost priority for Binance and our users, and we are honored that Binance’s security management is recognized by the respected DNV and UKAS. We appreciate the great amount of trust that our users have placed in us. We are committed to continuously securing our users’ information and assets by further strengthening our security system.

Obtaining the ISO certification is one significant aspect of our security commitment to the industry and our community. We will continue to advance our investment and endeavours in improving cyber security defense.”
