Internet browser Opera announced on Wednesday that they were adding support for bitcoin and Tron on their wallet app.The post said, “Until now, our built-in Crypto Wallet had only supported Ethereum and ERC-tokens. We are now making it more inclusive by supporting Bitcoin and TRON. It’s now safe to say that our browsers are Web 3 ready and that this should be the new standard for all browsers.”In May this year, it announced that it was all set to support TRON’s TRX and other TRC-standard tokens within its browser. Not only that, but Opera also has its own cryptocurrency wallet which supports Ethereum and TRC tokens.At the time, Krystian Kolondra, EVP at Opera, Head of Browsers had said, “TRON is a popular, quickly developing blockchain with a swiftly growing dApp ecosystem. We are happy to open our browser to it. By opening products to multiple blockchains, we are accelerating the mainstream adoption of Web 3.”In the post the browser further stated that in December 2018, Opera became the first major browser to include a native Crypto Wallet and Web 3 explorer. These new features let people make transactions and interact with the blockchain-based internet of the future, also known as Web 3. It said, “In April 2019, we introduced this functionality to our PC browser and in June 2019, to the Opera Touch browser on iOS. The seamless user interface doesn’t require any third-party browser extensions or wallet applications.”It stated that the decision to add these two blockchains to their platform marked one further step in Opera’s strategy to make Web 3 more inclusive and user-friendly.Last month, a release from the browser stated that the Opera Touch for iOS with Crypto Wallet, like the Opera browser for Android, supports the Ethereum Web3 API, making interacting with dApps seamless, without the need for browser extensions.Apart from that, the browser had said, “With built-in Crypto Wallet, the browser has the potential to renew and extend its important role as a tool to access information, make transactions online and manage users’ online identities in a way that gives them more control.”Liked what you read?
