According to reports, Tesla’s Elon Musk now plans to purchase Twitter Inc. for the original asking price of $54.20 a share. Twitter’s shares surged following the news and climbed nearly 20% higher and trading was halted twice so far.

It seems Elon Musk is planning to follow through with his deal to acquire Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) after he wanted to drop the deal over a lack of information concerning automated accounts known as bots. The news follows the recent shareholders’ vote that saw Musk overwhelmingly chosen by the majority of shareholders. Bloomberg was the first to report on the news on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, and after Bloomberg’s report was published, Twitter shares surged causing NYSE’s equity markets to halt trading.

At press time, Twitter shares are up 12.67% and the price is around $47.93 per TWTR share. The report stemming from Bloomberg, written by Jef Feely and Ed Hammond cites people with knowledge of the matter and it is said that Musk wrote a letter to Twitter. According to CNBC, the newsdesk “independently confirmed Musk’s renewed offer.” The latest deal also follows the commentary between the former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and the Tesla executive.

The texts between Dorsey and Musk explain why Dorsey decided to leave Twitter as he stressed that the social media platform should have never become a company. “A new platform is needed. It can’t be a company. This is why I left,” Dorsey wrote. The Twitter founder further added that the social media platform should be “an open source protocol, funded by a foundation of sorts that doesn’t own the protocol, only advances it.”

Furthermore, Musk was fighting with Twitter about lack of information concerning the social media platform’s number of automated accounts. He explained that he was going to walk away from the deal and he outlined some of the reasons why he want to terminate the purchase. Prior to the recent letter to Twitter that says Musk will go through with the purchase, the two parties (Musk & Twitter) were planning to convene in court on October 17 over the disagreements and termination.

What do you think about the reports that say Elon Musk is now going to follow through with the Twitter acquisition? Let us know what you think about this subject in the comments section below.

On Tuesday, the multinational financial services corporation Mastercard revealed that it is launching a new crypto monitoring product called Crypto Secure. The Crypto Secure software aims to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in order to help banks and crypto-centric debit card issuers identify fraudulent crypto transactions.

Mastercard (NYSE: MA) has introduced a new piece of software that leverages blockchain surveillance tactics and AI to identify fraudulent crypto transactions. The finance company shared the news exclusively with CNBC and according to the firm, the new software was developed by Ciphertrace. The blockchain intelligence company Ciphertrace was acquired by Mastercard last year. “Our two companies share this vision to provide security and trust throughout the ecosystem,” Dave Jevans, the CEO of Ciphertrace said at the time.

The new Crypto Secure software will provide financial institutions and crypto-centric debit card issuers with a dashboard that identifies blockchain activity and suspicious transactions. Essentially, the blockchain monitoring software leverages color-coded signals with different levels of suspicious activity. According to Mastercard, the software doesn’t do anything but warn the financial services provider, while banks and card issuers must make the judgment call.

“The idea is that the kind of trust we provide for digital commerce transactions, we want to be able to provide the same kind of trust to digital asset transactions for consumers, banks, and merchants,” Ajay Bhalla, the president of cyber and intelligence at Mastercard told CNBC. Bhalla added:

The whole digital asset market is now a pretty large, substantial market.

Mastercard says that the company already utilizes software that monitors traditional finance applications and assets, and the new Crypto Secure platform is dedicated to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH). Mastercard’s president of cyber and intelligence was also asked about the crypto economy’s recent downturn, and Bhalla stressed that the financial services corporation was more “focused on providing solutions to the stakeholders for the long term.”

“These are market cycles, they will come and they will go,” Bhalla concluded. “I think you’ve got to take the longer view that this is a big marketplace now and evolving and is probably going to be much, much bigger in the future.”

PRESS RELEASE. Coorest, a Polygon-native project, is the first blockchain project to have a certified standard for carbon compensation entirely on-chain — allowing anyone with an internet connection to compensate for their carbon footprint, thereby demonstrating that the newly certified Coorest Carbon Standard (CCS) is an excellent alternative to other pre-existing standards.

As a result of the new standard, all activities related to carbon compensation must be carried out through the blockchain; this ensures that all steps of the carbon compensation process are visible at all times and the process is transparent.

The Floodlight Chainlink node introduces a new level of accountability by monitoring carbon capture projects via satellite and validating the carbon capture process with satellite data. This feature proves actual carbon capture, thereby ensuring that Coorest’s carbon tokens are provably backed by absorbed CO2. Furthermore, the standard guarantees the additionality of Coorest’s carbon tokens, backed by carbon capture. Before exploring the details behind the CCS, it is essential to understand what makes it a legitimate methodology for carbon compensation.

Certified by an official United Nations auditor

The CCS is certified by Earthood, an official United Nations auditor. Earthood recognises Coorest’s CO2 tokens as a valid carbon compensation method.

The methodology of CCS includes a strict set of rules for carbon capture projects. Among these is the requirement for the additionality of carbon capture. Carbon capture projects can only tokenise carbon from newly planted trees that respect the region’s biodiversity. Therefore, planting native tree species is preferable, while using invasive species is strictly prohibited.

Finally, the carbon capture project must submit to regular satellite monitoring and agree that its carbon capture can only be used as carbon compensation in the form of Coorest CO2 tokens; this guarantees the validity of Coorest’s carbon standard and ensures accountability right from the beginning.

Carbon compensation secured by smart contracts

Smart contracts are blockchain programs that automatically run when certain conditions are met. For example, Coorest carbon tokens are minted by smart contracts. It is done to secure the tokenisation of carbon and guarantees that all carbon tokens are backed by carbon capture.

There are two main conditions required by Coorest’s smart contracts to mint carbon tokens — satellite data and CO2 absorption calculations.

CO2 absorption calculations made by Coorest’s science team are the first requirement for minting carbon tokens. These calculations are entered manually into the smart contracts in a well-documented process. They consider the soil type, tree species, climate and geography of the carbon capture project and determine the rate at which it will generate carbon tokens.

Carbon capture verified through satellite monitoring

The second prerequisite for minting carbon tokens is satellite data — a product of Coorest’s recent partnership with Floodlight and integration of Chainlink.

Floodlight tracks and monitors the trees of all carbon capture projects approved by Coorest. It collects data and sends it to Coorest’s smart contracts via the Chainlink network.

Once a project is on-boarded, Floodlight takes a “snapshot” of its trees and uses it as a reference. Floodlight then does a monthly biomass check using satellites and compares the data to the initial “snapshot”. This monthly biomass check is done to ensure that the trees on the carbon capture project are present. They continue to absorb carbon at the rate determined by Coorest’s science team. In addition, the smart contracts stop generating carbon tokens if too many trees die or are removed from the carbon capture project. It guarantees that Coorest’s carbon tokens are backed by effective and continuous carbon capture.

The satellite validation of carbon capture and the integral use of smart contracts provide Coorest’s carbon compensation method with unparalleled transparency and accountability. The approval of the Coorest Carbon Standard is an enormous milestone for Coorest. However, it is also an occasion with a colossal impact on the carbon market.

About Coorest

Coorest helps companies and individuals compensate for their CO2 emissions by offering transparent and traceable blockchain-based web3 solutions.

As the first web3 project with an officially certified blockchain carbon standard, Coorest strives for global, unbiased and transparent compensation solutions, at the core of which is blockchain technology. PRESS RELEASE. The DeSo Foundation announces the release of their ambitious roadmap to decentralize social media and build The Social Layer of Web3.

Milestones on the roadmap will be executed over the next 2 quarters to solve the major problem with social media today.

“Most people don’t realize that social media is more centralized than the financial system was when Bitcoin was invented. Only a handful of companies currently control what we see and do online. We can solve this problem by decentralizing social media and storing all content on a blockchain.” said Nader Al-Naji, the founder of DeSo.

The roadmap release comes as new messages emerge between Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, showing his idea for a blockchain-based social media protocol that does payments and short text messages.

The two billionaire entrepreneurs discussed how Twitter would be better off as an open-source protocol funded by a foundation instead of a company. Dorsey expressed regret over making Twitter a company calling it an “original sin.”

The foundation’s role in an open-source blockchain-based social network would be to finance and advance its development.

Elon Musk called it a “super interesting idea” and offered to help. However, once Dorsey failed in his attempt to get Musk on the Twitter board, he eventually left the company.

Additionally, there was a conversation between Elon Musk and Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX, about making a blockchain Twitter or buying Twitter outright.

However, this may not be necessary considering the DeSo foundations roadmap and the apps emerging from its ecosystem.

DeSo released the first milestone on their roadmap with their MetaMask integration, which went live last week. It allows millions of Ethereum users to log in to DeSo with one click. They also plan to add more cross-chain communication bridges between ecosystems, including Solanas Phantom wallet. Other potential integrations include Cardano and NEAR.

A move from Proof-of-Work to “Infinite Proof-of-Stake” is also in the works. Like Ethereum’s switch to Proof-of-Stake, DeSo Proof-of-Stake will reduce consumption and become more energy efficient.

A hackathon at a major Ivy League Institution where students can compete to build the next great decentralized social network is also in the works.

The above is expected to be completed by Q4, along with a critical COO hire to help scale business and marketing operations.

Many experts expect decentralized social media to be the next huge market opportunity, which top crypto research firms have assessed. DeSo ranked first in Messari’s seven other crypto trends analysis due to the overall addressable market.

In the next decade, social media is predicted to attract 6 billion users and be worth trillions. A blockchain-based social network would highly appeal to the 50 million creators in today’s economy who are always looking for new platforms; the creator economy is currently valued at $100 billion.

DeSo has several social media apps emerging from its ecosystem that appeal directly to the creator economy, including a blockchain-based Twitter app where people can monetize with diamonds.

About Deso Foundation

DeSo is a new layer-1 blockchain built from the ground up to decentralize social media and scale storage-heavy applications to billions of users. They raised $200 million and are backed by Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Coinbase Ventures, Social Capital, Polychain Capital, Winkelvoss Capital, Pantera, and others.

$DESO, the native currency of the DeSo blockchain, is listed on Coinbase.

PRESS RELEASE. XSwap is a name that has been gaining considerable attention lately for a compelling reason. The XSwap Treasure Token, XTT, may best be defined as XSwap Protocol’s farming reward token. Furthermore, it serves as the native token of their subproject known as the XSwap Launchpad.

What’s there to know?

The launchpad provides a comprehensive solution to projects seeking a wide range of services, such as project token generation, pre-sale funding, token and liquidity locking, and multi-sending tokens. The team shall add additional features to the launchpad as they deem fit in the future. These changes depend on what the team sees as beneficial for both XSwap and the end users.

XTT tokens can be staked by users to earn more XTT. With no minimum or maximum limits, users have the freedom to stake whatever amount that they desire. Moreover, newly launched projects which utilize the launchpad can also use the staking platform enabling their respective communities to obtain staking rewards in their project tokens by staking XTT.

When users offer liquidity to XSwap’s DEX, they will be granted Liquidity Pool (LP) tokens (XSP2) and rewarded for providing liquidity. These LP tokens can also be staked, enabling users to earn rewards in XTT. Additionally, XTT is minted by the main contract, which is rare and fixed. The minted XTTs are distributed in various proportions after considering their multiplier in all farming pools. Therefore, all LP providers share the total pool rewards in that pool.

The XDC Launchpad

The XDC Launchpad is the first fully decentralized launchpad for the XDC network. XSwap has witnessed the rapid growth of this industry, which ultimately led to the formation of the XSwap AMM DEX. To better meet the needs of various startup projects and to further its goal of expanding the XDC network, XSwap created the launchpad. This is so that upcoming projects that want to build in the network can generate capital for their business operations.

It allows investors to access early-stage token sales at significantly lower costs before publicly launching these tokens in the market. In a nutshell, a ‘win-win situation’ is created for project developers and cryptocurrency investors.

Thanks to XSwap Protocol’s increasing presence as well as reach and by utilizing the launchpad, numerous DeFi projects will receive the much-needed exposure they seek; this results in more people knowing about their project. Furthermore, these projects will gain considerable traction and experience an increase in participation from their communities and other potential markets. As well as obtaining a significantly wider reach to the overall DeFi ecosystem, it will result in having project tokens seamlessly integrated into cryptocurrency exchanges.

Important information about $XTT

Apart from the official name being XSwap Treasure Token and the ticker being XTT (18 decimals), the total supply is infinite, and the contract address is also publicly available. There was only one pre-sale round, and the goal to reach 1,000,000,000 tokens was achieved.

The minimum amount required to invest was 4,000 XDC, whereas the maximum was 400,000 XDC. XSwap provided a 10% bonus to those who did one-time maximum buy-ins of 400,000 XDC. It is also worth mentioning that 60,000,000 XTT was allotted to be airdropped to XSP holders at a ratio of 1 XTT for every 100 XSP they hold. In the pre-sale phase, the minting rate would be determined by how much XTT is sold and would fall within a given range.

About XSwap

XSwap is an AMM DEX for XRC20 tokens built in the XDC Network. It essentially enables all customers to swap and earn within a secure pool. XSP, the DEX’s native cryptocurrency, is used throughout the blockchain and has certain utilities like farming, voting, staking and payment capabilities.
