Looks like, after social media giants, other corporates are incorporating bitcoin into their daily lexicon.A seemingly small, but noteworthy find was made by Reddit user, u/mtimetraveller, who announced that Microsoft Excel recognizes and displays bitcoin as a currency. Of course, that led to a great number of jokes, with some Redittors stating that it was apparent, that Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft was the actual Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of bitcoin.A user going by the name Microsoft James, whose disclaimer that he indeed worked at the company, said, “Microsoft Excel (for Office 365 subscribers) now provides real-time prices for BTC and ETH.”A person asked James if they just added the feature just now, or if there have been changes in the crypto sphere that prompted them to add the feature. Smartly, evading the question, James said, “The feature to get live quote data in Excel is a few months about a year old, and once we added support for currency exchange rates there were a few cryptocurrencies included (BTC, ETH, XRP).” He further added that, if users wanted to see more cryptocurrencies added, they could suggest features at https://excel.uservoice.com/ or in Excel by going to File > Feedback (same as clicking the smiley face in the top right).Recently, Microsoft announced that it was all set to launch its own decentralized identity network, which will be built on top of the bitcoin blockchain, as previously reported by Crypto-News India. At the time, Alex Simons, a member of the Microsoft Tech Community had said, “Today, we’re announcing an early preview of a Sidetree-based DID network, called ION (Identity Overlay Network) which runs atop the Bitcoin blockchain based on an emerging set of open standards that we’ve developed working with many of our partners in the Decentralized Identity Foundation. This approach greatly improves the throughput of DID systems to achieve tens-of-thousands of operations per second.”Liked what you read? Join us on Telegram
