Craig Wright Files Copyright Claim For Original Bitcoin Whitepaper And Code

23 May 2019

Craig Wright’s antics to brand himself as Satoshi Nakamoto are not coming to an end. After issuing legal notices to his critics now he has filed a copyright application in US Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO) for the original Bitcoin whitepaper and early Bitcoin code. And by doing so he has also recouped a substantial part of the loss that came in the value of Bitcoin SV ever since its creation. The community, however, has still not agreed completely to recognize him as Satoshi Nakamoto. The court documents related to filing were spotted yesterday. Coin Center Executive Director Jerry Brito also pointed out the same:Registering a copyright is just filing a form. The Copyright Office does not investigate the validity of the claim; they just register it. Unfortunately there is no official way to challenge a registration. If there are competing claims, the Office will just register all of them. https://t.co/YA70ALpG1Y— Jerry Brito (@jerrybrito) May 21, 2019A copyright is not a proof of ownership by default. We feel that this move has come from Craig Wright to step up his legal battle against his critics. It will be interesting to see, however, whether this helps him or not. But for now it looks like it has helped him in another way.Right after the news of Craig Wright filing these copyright claims broke out, the price of Bitcoin SV shot up significantly. It more than doubled in value, recovering a sizable part of losses incurred ever since its creation. The cryptocurrency surged from $62 to $139, surging more than 102% within a few hours. It’s still trading at $110, up more than 76%. The surge has brought it back to the top 10 club.
